Kinja'd!!!

Chevy says my car isn’t infected with the ignition scandal. (2005 Equinox LS) When it gets cold out, like below freezing it is a real pain I the ass to start, some how the key gets files down when it gets started.

We even changed the ignition and key a few years ago, to the tune of around $400 or something. Now it’s acting up again. So I may try to get a new key for $30, but this shouldn’t be happening like this.

Have you tried a graphite lube? IIRC (no pun intended) there was a TSB for this on your car.

On our Montana you could pull the key out when it was running. (in fairness to GM, that was something we broke)

Was very nice in the winter as you didn’t need to turn it off to use other keys on the ring. (eg getting out to open a gate)

There are 2 brands I can’t understand why people buy their cars. The first is Volkswagen, and the second is GM. Oh, and I know from experience with both, complete, and utter crap.

Also take those extra keys off that key ring. The extra weight makes those chrome over brass keys wear quicker.

I have a similar annoying issue on my miata. Only one side of my key works. So sometimes I put it in and it wont turn, so I have to flip it and try again.

I second this motion. VW with their specialty bolts and over engineered crap, and GM with their regular bolts and under engineered crap.

Not everyone wants a Honda Fit. Some of us are murderers, and therefore need Camaros.

Yeah, unfortunately they used a soft metal for those blanks and the wear down really quickly. I think they finally went to a steel blank and those should last longer. We see that all the time. I have no idea how some of the keys we see even function anymore.

I needed more body hauling space, so I got the Roadmaster.

I think you meant to say Mustangs, instead of Camaros.

Those keys just wear like that I think. My dad’s Silverado key looks about the same, and my brothers old Grand Am key did too. The Pontiac key was so bad only one side of it would start the car. A new key fixed any and all issues.
